That happy time of year again

Well, it's that time of year in Canada -- tax time. So I've been finding out just how much of the tax money actually has to go to the government. I will be pulling out my hair and cursing in all appropriate languages until the end of April. Yes, I could have done my taxes in January, but the incentive of sending the government money early isn't much of an incentive.

I did however get the c-print of Jody's cover painting of House War: The Hidden City, and I adore it beyond all reason. I can't post it because it's the art, and the art, without the titles, etc., isn't a marketing tool. But it's a inverted triangular frame, solid black border, Jewel on the inside with a dagger in her hand; it's not a full body shot, but I really like it. The background -- and that doesn't really do justice to the motif -- is from an element in the book itself, and it takes up the rest of the cover in solid greys with touches of pale gold. When it was described to me, I thought it would be a design element -- but that's not the effect it has. When the cover mock-up is done, and if I can get a copy of it, I'll post it here. It's a very different look, but to me, recognizeably Jody; my husband, however, said he wouldn't have been certain if he hadn't already known.

If I said that I'm not particularly fond of CRA, would that be considered a negative remark?

I am looking forward to seeing the cover mock-up when you can post it. Of course, I am even more interested in seeing the book itself in my hot little hands!!

Yay that you like the cover! Hardcover, too, right?

I shall continue to exercise what patience I have remaining. I'll be glad to see the cover when you post it.

Is that a final title? ^_^

The cover sounds cool, can't wait to see it when we can.

Yeah, we're doing our taxes this weekend. Since we started a home business with my illustration and freelancing they will probably be more complex this time around, so we might have to break down and pay someone to do them, ugh.

The print sounds fabulous though!

If you need extra bad words in other languages, I can point you to some places to find them. I collect curses and insults in other languages (useful for times when you really don't want the other person knowing what you are calling them - I use these at dentist offices, in medical situations where the other person has sharp pointy objects to use on my oh so tender flesh, etc.). I speak at least a little of 7 languages, I can curse in about 12.

Good morning/afternoon/evening (delete where applicable)
...I am in the UK, no idea of the time difference...

Forgive me for barging in but - I had an epiphany last night, and I believe you should know.

Searching for a book to take with me to work, I 'found' the Fortune Teller on one of the shelves. I am sure I bought it years ago, and then forgotten about it (books tend to breed behind my back in this house, you see... There are *always* more books than I remember buying).

Anyway - as a collection of short stories it's OK but not remarkably good (according to my own personal taste, of course), and I had briefly considered putting the book aside and looking for something else.

Glad I didn't - VERY glad.

Read The Vision of Men on the tram... Read it again once I got home, and I am now off to have a look on Amazon, because I want to read whatever else you have written...:)

I would add you to my FL, if it's OK?
